How to Install MS Teams on Rocky Linux 9

Microsoft Teams is a collaborative workspace as part of the Microsoft 365 products family. MS Teams act as a central hub for workplace conversations, chats, collaborative teamwork, video and audio calls and document sharing overall centralized suite to aid worker productivity. Teams primarily competes with the similar service Slack, offering workspace chat and videoconferencing, file storage, and application integration.


MS Teams can be installed either GUI (Graphic User Interface) or CLI (Command Line Interface), both methods are mentioned below.



Install MS Teams via CLI ( Command Line Interface )

Update System

sudo dnf update


Download the MS Teams installer

Go to the official Microsoft Teams website i.e. https://www.microsoft.com/en-in/microsoft-teams/download-app

Download the installer file by clicking on the "Linux RPM 64-bit" button, as mentioned in the below screenshot.


Open the Terminal and go to the directory path, where the installer file has downloaded and run the below command
ex: installer file name is teams-1.5.00.23861-1.x86_64.rpm

sudo dnf install teams-1.5.00.23861-1.x86_64.rpm



Now the Microsoft Teams application has been installed. Click on the launcher and search for teams and open the application.


Now Microsoft Teams has been launched. Login with your work or personal registered account.




Install MS Teams via GUI ( Graphic User Interface )

Go to the official Microsoft Teams website i.e. https://www.microsoft.com/en-in/microsoft-teams/download-app

Download the installer file by clicking on the "Linux RPM 64-bit" button, as mentioned in the below screenshot.


Double click or Right click on the installer file and select 'Software Install'.


Click on Install button.


If prompt for Authentication Required, enter the local system account password to proceed.


Now the Microsoft Teams application has been installed. Click on the launcher and search for teams and open the application.


Now Microsoft Teams has been launched. Login with your work or personal registered account.
